WHY CAREER PLANNING STARTS IN HIGH SCHOOL?
Students today are spoilt for choice when it comes to opportunities and options for a career. However, a survey of students in India from 14 to 21 years of age a couple of years ago revealed that more than 90% of the students were aware of only 7 career options! This scenario is fortunately changing in the post-covid era, thanks to the online access to information. Yet as per a recent survey, 52% of the students choose a career option only after joining graduation or at the end of the graduation! And it's not uncommon for them to find subsequently that they are in a wrong career. That is why it is advisable that career planning should start in High School. Career planning enables students to identify their strengths, skills, and interests that help them to determine the best career path for their future.
